5 – 105 Family Friendly Vaccination Sessions
Health Chiefs in Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes (BLMK) are expanding the COVID-19 vaccination programme with new developments of their family focussed sessions.
These new sessions have been established after the vaccination teams have been working hard to make it as comfortable as possible for local children aged 5 – 11 to get their COVID-19 vaccination. Welcoming graphics, colouring books, staff in fancy dress in some of the centres are all part of the efforts they have taken to ensure children feel safe during their jabs.
Now when booking or simply walking-in with a child aged 5 – 11 years old into one of the many centres to have their jab, accompanying family members can have whichever vaccination they are eligible for, without having to book in advance. This can mean the whole family can get vaccinated together.
From Monday, 4 April, book a child into any of the large vaccination centres across the region –
- Bedford Heights, Manton Lane, Bedford, MK41 7BJ
- Rainbow Pharmacy, Michael Young Building, The Open University, Milton Keynes MK7 6BB
- Redgrave Children and Young People’s Centre, 27 Redgrave Gardens, Luton LU3 3QN
- Watling House, High Street North, Dunstable, LU6 1LF
or you can walk into any of the outreach centres listed on the BLMK website. These venues will change from time to time as the teams move across the region so the website will be a one stop shop for the most up to date listings.
To book an appointment, go to the National Booking System or call 119.
Remember, you only need to book one appointment for your 5 – 11 years old.
Geraint Davies, Senior Responsible Officer for NHS Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Clinical Commissioning Group said:
“Our latest initiative means that now we are able to vaccinate all family members from ages 5 to 105, in one session. A child can be vaccinated for their first vaccine alongside a grandparent who is receiving their Spring booster jab.
“The vaccination teams across Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes are making it as easy as possible for whole families to come along and take advantage of this opportunity. They have also gone out of their way to make the venues as welcoming as possible for our youngest residents. We are hosting these sessions in libraries, children’s centres, and the large vaccination centres so that people have as much choice as possible when it comes to getting their COVID-19 vaccination.
“And to make the process as seamless as possible, the various vaccination taxi services running across the region will be able to take family members to and from their appointments free of charge.”
