Clinical Policy Alignment
Our aim is to align our policies across Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes by April 2021 to reduce any existing variation in services in our area.
Where there is a difference in policies (currently Specialist Fertility; Gluten-free food Prescribing; Pharmacy First Minor Ailment Scheme), we will need to engage or consult local people before any final decisions are made. The current Covid-19 pandemic however means that it is difficult to engage with local people in a meaningful way, as many people do not have access to digital channels and we are unable to meet people face to face. The NHS is also under pressure managing the pandemic whilst also delivering the largest vaccination programme in the history of the NHS.
We are currently reviewing our policies and plans and will undertake public engagement or consultation where necessary to ensure that the public voice is fully heard in our decision making around any potential policy changes.
We will provide more information and engage with the public and statutory committees as soon as possible.
Please view our clinical policies here.
BLMK continue to align several policies including Bedfordshire CCG, Luton CCG and MK CCG’s Individual Funding Request (IFR) polices. An IFR considers whether an individual patient could be significantly different (clinically exceptional) and would derive more clinical benefit than other patients with the same condition/presentation. The new BLMK IFR Policy/Appendices and application form will be uploaded when available.
In the meantime, the current individual CCG IFR Policies and process remains in place. Links to the current IFR Policies can be found at the following:
