Personalised Care Strategic Co-production Group

What does the group do and who is involved?

The Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes (BLMK) Personalised Care Strategic Co-production Group has been formed so that people with lived experience (carers and patients) of health and social care across BLMK can work in partnership with senior leaders to co-design and create change that works for our local Integrated Care system (ICS).

The Co-production Group is a small inclusive group of local people across BLMK. The group take time for each other to develop an understanding of the issues they discuss at the meetings. The group make decisions and work on changes that they think are important to the people of BLMK regarding personalised care.

What is personalised care?

Personalised care means people have choice and control over the way their care is planned and delivered. It is based on ‘what matters’ to them and their individual strengths and needs. Please look at this video for more information

What is strategic co-production?

Strategic co-production is one of the key enablers of personalised care. It ensures that the voice of people with lived experience is integral to the development and delivery of personalised care, modelling the ‘shift in relationship’ and supporting the necessary culture change.

How often are the co-production meetings and where are they held?

The meetings are held in an accessible central venue in Flitwick Football Centre, Ampthill Road Flitwick MK45 1BA. Mileage and transport costs reimbursed and refreshments provided. However during the Covid-19 pandemic, we have met mostly online via the online ‘Teams’ app. If members are unable to attend the whole or every meeting, they inform the group facilitator who is a member of the group.

The discussions are wide ranging depending on the current interests, concerns and projects undertaken by the group. Speakers are invited to meet with the group on a regular basis. Meetings usually take place between 10.30- 2.30 pm on the second Monday of each month
