Gestational diabetes is high blood sugar (glucose) that develops during pregnancy and usually disappears after giving birth. However increases your risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes It can happen at any stage of pregnancy. For all necessary information and care about yourself and your baby please speak to your midwife.

In Luton we also offer ongoing management for Post Gestational Diabetes care. This is a combination of self-referral to Diabetes Prevention education and annual check up to women who had Gestational Diabetes. Please speak to your GP / Practice nurse for further information.
