Mobile vaccination van at Bury Park Sainsbury’s this week

Date: 22/02/2022 | Category: CCG News

Health bosses from Luton have announced that COVID-19 vaccinations doses will be offered outside Sainsbury’s, 34 Dunstable Road, Bury Park, Luton LU1 1DY from tomorrow, 23 February until Sunday 27 February.  The Vaccination Van will be open from 10.30 – 17.30 for anyone needing a first, second or booster jab.  Luton residents, over the age of 12, will be able to turn up and get their vaccination with no need to make an appointment.

Those aged between 12 – 15 years old must be accompanied by somebody with parental authority in order to get their vaccination.  An on-board team of vaccinators, support staff and nurses will be on hand to answer questions or address any issues of vaccine hesitancy.

It is still important for everybody to have their full course of jabs to make sure they are protected, they can travel, and look after their families and community.

Sally Cartwright, Director of Public Health for Luton said “Please play your part to help keep Luton safe by getting vaccinated and encourage your friends and family members to do so. Vaccination is our best protection against this disease and could prevent you or a loved one from ending up in hospital with critical symptoms.”

Geraint Davies, Senior Responsible Officer for the vaccination programme from NHS Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Clinical Commissioning Group said: “We are committing to make it as easy and convenient as possible for people across the whole of Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes to get their jab.

“The Vaccination Van in Bury Park, Luton, is a great way to take COVID-19 vaccinations out into our communities.  It will enable us to give people the jab safely and efficiently to anyone who is eligible and who hasn’t been able to visit one of our local vaccination sites yet.

“I would urge everyone over 12, who hasn’t had a jab yet or who is due their second or booster dose to please come along.”

The Luton Vaxi Cabs service is still available to get those being vaccinated to the site and also bring them home.  Free of charge, these taxis will make it as easy as possible to get a jab, whether it is first, second or booster.  To find out how to book one, go to Luton Borough Council’s website www.luton.gov.uk/COVID19-VACCINES
