Statement from Dr Sarah Whiteman, Medical Director and putative chair of BLMK CCGs

We are very sorry for any inconvenience that has been caused to patients whilst we undertake delivery of the biggest ever NHS vaccination programme. Whilst the NHS is very experienced in delivering vaccination programmes, one of this size is bound to have some bumps in the road.

I am thrilled that we can now say we are administering vaccines in Bedford Borough from 6 January.  I can appreciate that local people will be keen to get their jab as soon as possible, but we would ask that patients do not contact their practices at this time.  GPs are working through their lists and making appointments according to the criteria provided by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation.

We will ensure that anyone whose vaccination appointment has been cancelled will be rearranged as quickly as possible.
