Winter wellbeing support from Keeping Well BLMK

Date: 01/12/2021 | Category: CCG News

Winter can be a challenging time of year, and it’s important to look after yourself. As well as being one of the busiest times for many public sector employees the events of the last few years have presented further challenges.

The BLMK Integrated Care System (ICS) has commissioned a ‘Keeping Well Hub’. This service is free, confidential and available to anyone who works for an ICS organisation. The hub is there if you need some advice on keeping well, or if you need some support when things get tough.

You may be worried about increasing stress and pressure at work, COVID-19 or the flu. Christmas is for many a time to relax and recharge but may also bring up feelings of loneliness and grief. Keeping Well is here to support all BLMK ICS workers throughout the winter months.

We have produced a range of resources on our website to support you. These include advice for coping with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), maintaining your physical and mental health during the winter, managing loneliness and coping with grief.

The annual flu jab and COVID-19 booster vaccines are now being offered. They are important to protect yourself, your patients, colleagues, and your loved ones. If needle phobia or anxiety is preventing you from getting your jab, you can contact us to discuss your difficulties with one of our trained wellbeing professionals.

To further support key workers through the winter we have launched a new online series “Hot Chocolate Hour with the Keeping Well Service”. This is a virtual drop-in space to discuss all things winter. Each session will be on a different topic led by a member of our team and will take place via Zoom, visit our website for joining instructions.

Upcoming sessions include:

  • 9 December, 10am to 11am – Winter and wine
  • 23 December, 3pm to 4pm – Is the stress of Christmas keeping you down?
  • 30 December, 10am to 11am – New year, new you? Let’s talk New Year’s resolutions
